Applying for Scholarships

  1. Read all the requirements and directions and apply only if you are eligible.
  2. Complete the application in full.  Do not leave a question blank.  If a question does not apply to you, note that in the application form. Supply all materials required in the directions but do not send anything not asked for.
  3. Type your application or print neatly and legibly. Make a couple of photocopies of all the forms before you fill them out. Use the copies as working drafts as you develop your application packet.
  4. Write a strong, personal and honest essay about yourself, needs, or plans.
  5. Act early.  Ask for recommendation letters and  transcripts, etc early,
  6. Send in all application materials before deadline and to the right places.  Be sure to keep a copy for your record.
    As a parent, let your child be in control.
  7. Just encourage him (her) to apply and get the applications in on time.
