Interviews are used also as an opportunity to sell the college to the student. But be prepared, as they say. You want to discuss things that are not well presented on the papers (such as a C+ in a class), your sincere interest in the school and the program you are applying for. If interviews are offered, you should definitely request one. It will show the admissions people that your interest in the school is sincere. Colleges do not want to accept students who will turn them down later.
